Meet our instructors
Karl D. Kessler – Owner/Lead Instructor
I am an average American with a love for firearms and a passion for the Second Amendment! Like you, I found myself trying to choose a CPL training class and settled on one of the cheapest firearms training classes near me I could find. That was a big mistake! While my instructors were both Police officers and very knowledgeable, they were bound by their association to keep within the guidelines of that association’s training regiment. I left that class with more questions than answers and spent the next few months looking for those answers.
I realized the need for CPL/CCW insurance early and bought a plan from the USCCA and some time later the USCCA began to offer their own CPL training. They are 100% geared towards concealed carrier permit holders and their course reflects that and also allows me the flexibility to add to the curriculum where I feel it necessary. I finally decided to partner with the USCCA to become an instructor and my goal is to make sure NO student ever leaves my class confused and/or questioning what the laws are in Michigan leaving them vulnerable to legal troubles.
Our CPL classes are NOT “Tacti-cool”! You won’t learn how to kick down doors and clear rooms (Kyle can teach you that in our advance shooting classes). It is my job to teach you conflict avoidance through situational awareness, basic handgun skills, and most importantly, how to stay out of prison if you ever have to brandish or fire your gun in self defense! I also aim to provide you the most comprehensive CPL training possible!
I am located in Westland, MI and we are only minutes away from Canton and Livonia!
Hope to see you soon in one of my upcoming CPL classes!
Bradley Foster – Instructor
Brad is a USCCA certified firearms instructor and acts as our Range Safety Officer. He has had a passion for firearms and marksmanship since childhood. He found his passion for teaching as a classical music instructor and applies the same principles of music education to firearms education. He is always looking to push his training to the next level and aid others in their personal training.
Brad has been with Michigan CPL Training Academy since early 2022 and shoots at a marksman level. His patience, understanding of shooting fundamentals, and ability to convey his instructions to students makes him a perfect instructor for new shooters! He has a great sense of humor and his teaching style is light and fun but serious at the same time when it comes to safe gun handling and improving the skills of students.
Kyle Delaney – Advanced Instructor
Kyle teaches our Advanced Shooting classes and Tactical Medicine class, “Stop the Bleed”. Kyle served in the Marines as a Platoon Sniper and was also an Instructor in Tactical Marksmanship, Close Combat and Combat Hunter. While in the Marines, he served in Afghanistan and Iraq from 2007-2012 and received many accommodations including a Purple Heart!
Upon leaving the Marines, he went on to Defense Contracting and provided Security for high profile government officials and served in many other Security roles in Israel, Iraq and several other nations throughout Central Africa.
After he left defense contracting, he served with the Detroit Police Department and is now in transit security. And Kyle is NOT just another pretty face with a bad assed background! He also holds an Associates degree in Thermodynamics, an MPH (Masters Public Health), as well as a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science!
