Perfect for First-Time CPL Students in Canton
New to firearms or CPL training? You’re welcome here. Our one-day course is designed to help first-time students understand firearm safety, Michigan CPL law, responsible gun handling, and the live-fire portion of the course in a structured, beginner-friendly environment.
Never handled a firearm? Come in at 8:00 AM.
Our Before Class CPL Prep Session runs 45 minutes before class begins. A small group, a real firearm, and an experienced instructor beside you — the place to ask the questions you’d rather not ask in front of a full classroom. You start the day settled instead of playing catch-up. Most CPL classes don’t offer it.

Where Canton Residents Apply for Their CPL
Michigan issues your CPL through the clerk of the county where you live — so Canton residents apply through the Wayne County Clerk, not the city of Canton. Here is the order it happens in:
1. Take the class. You leave us the same day with your certificate of completion — the document the clerk requires.
2. Apply at the Wayne County Clerk. Bring your certificate and photo ID. Appointments are required, and there is a $100 application and licensing fee payable to the county clerk, plus about $15 for fingerprinting — $115 in total.
3. Get fingerprinted within 45 days. Canton residents can be printed by their local police agency or the county sheriff — you must do this within 45 days of submitting your application.
4. Wait for the decision. The clerk must issue your license, or a notice of statutory disqualification, within 45 days of your classifiable fingerprints.
Wayne County publishes its current CPL appointment process, hours and office locations here: Wayne County Clerk — Concealed Pistol Licenses.
Canton CPL Questions We Get Asked Most
Do I have to live in Canton to take the class here?
No. Anyone may train with us. Where you apply is what depends on residency — Canton residents apply in Wayne County.
Is the range in Canton?
No. Classroom instruction is at our Livonia facility and live fire is at a private range we reserve for the class, so you finish everything in one day.
I have never fired a gun. Is that a problem in a Canton class?
It is the most common thing we hear. A large share of our students fire their first round with us, and rental firearms are available if you do not own one yet.
How soon can I get in?
We run classes most weeks. Canton students usually book the nearest Saturday or Sunday — seats are shown live on the booking calendar.
